Google on the way to release the Canary Build of Chrome

New revolution with Google Chrome – the world’s third most popular browser!

The search engine giant Google has launched its latest revolutionary development, called Google Chrome Canary Build, which is the experimental and one of the most technical as well as risky version of the web browser ever. While on the experimentation phase, Google is constantly testing the new features and experimental builds of the browser Google Chrome through the Chrome Dev Channel, which is a part of Google’s open-source Chromium Project. The updation usually takes place in a weekly cycle, although it is not quite fast for the Chrome team of Google in gathering feedbacks.

This is where the role of Canary Build comes to play. Googlers says, “this build will be updated more frequently than the Dev channel, with riskier changes, and usually without a human being ever verifying that it works.” this has been reckoned as the “ultimate experimental version of Chrome”. It is ideal for any web developing company, who wants to help the Chrome team at Google to test the newly developed features and, as Google has put it, “like to live on the bleeding edge.”

Not to be forgotten, a few cautions have been warranted to the Canary Build insofar its limitation is concenred… the worth mentioning of which is that it is available only and only for the users of Windows. The second most problematic point is that it cannot be set as the users’ default browser. If you are one of the few bravest developers to use the Canary Build of Chrome, then I shall be encouraging you to comment here, talking about your experience.

Chrome Web Store to be Launched Soon

The search engine giant Google planned to have a presence everywhere – starting from TV to gaming, and today it’s became clear that plan includes the upcoming Chrome Web Store.

Earlier this year Google announced the opening of Chrome Web Store during its I/O conference. Google showed a presentation to a room of game developers at the GDC Europe conference. According to the presentation Google showed off the Chrome Web Store, a marketplace for HTML5 apps. The presentation also revealed some new details about Google’s new app store. According to the presentation, the Chrome Web Store is launching in October.

Google Chrome users who find web apps in the store will be able to create convenient shortcuts in Chrome for easy access. Also, developers will have the option to easily sell their apps through the store using a convenient and secure payment system.

Facebook and Apple, Goggle’s two biggest enemy have been threatening Google’s dominance of the web through two distinct platforms, social media and mobile. Facebook on one side shows no signs of stopping which creates a real threat to core search and advertising businesses of Google. On the other side, Apple has already attracted a huge number of developers to its iOS platform and hence products like iAds eating into Google’s profit.

The search engine giant Google is pitching its marketplace as a huge platform for gaming. It’s sure to be a main selling point of Chrome OS, which is supposed to launch later this year. The Chrome Web Store gives Google a path to competing with game consoles through integration with Google TV. It could even become the app platform for the company’s much-rumored Google Me social network.

Relaunch of Digg.com

So eventually after long time Digg is working on some new Design and neater interface. You can glimpse the new Digg website at New.Digg.com. You will find the New Design, New Buttons, neater interface and more. The new Website is not yet accessible currently but you can access it by New.Digg.com and signup for the previews of the new Digg features.
The new Digg was first revealed in March by previous CEO Jay Adelson, who has since paced down. Later, Digg founder Kevin Rose took over as CEO as the company focuses on building a more Twitter-like experience to finding out content.
In a signal that the launch of the new type of Digg is imminent, the social media company has turned off new user registrations for Digg.com.
To know more about the new version of Digg, visit Digg.com/register and you’ll be greeted with a note saying that the new Digg is coming, and prompting would-be new users to sign up for e-mail notifications for the relaunch of the social news service. Digg is probably porting facts and figures over from the previous version of Digg to the new one and doesn’t desire to depart out new users in the switch.
Its heard from a source that there is a lot of pressure on Kevin Rose and the Digg team to get this relaunch perfectly since Digg has been gradually losing users for the last year. I , for one, as a part of WEBSYS social media team, am looking anxiously towards what will happen next and how to benefit from it , while working on Search Engine Optimization and Internet Marketing at WEBSYS.

PayPal New Withdrawal Policy for Indian Users

Recently PayPal has made an alteration for the Indian PayPal account users. In accordance with the regulatory instructions, PayPal has announced a change in the withdrawal functionality in India starting on August 1, 2010. Presently Indian PayPal holders can request for both electronic and cheque withdrawal of funds. But from July 29, 2010 onwards Indian PayPay users will not be allowed to request for electronic withdrawal of funds. According to Dickson Seow from Corporate Communications team writes in the PayPal Blog that “At present, you can request for either an electronic or check withdrawal of funds from your PayPal account but from July 29, 2010 onwards, you will only be able to request for a cheque withdrawal of funds from your PayPal account.” PayPay further said that in order to help the customers with the alteration, they will refund the $5 USD withdrawal fee for cheque requests made on July 29, 2010 onwards.

The change stems from a government financial overhaul that has put the future of PayPal in India in jeopardy since earlier this year. PayPal also regrets for the inconvenience and wrote “We sincerely apologize in advance for any inconvenience caused from this change and we are working hard to restore the electronic withdrawal service,” Seow wrote “In the meantime, we are bringing this matter to your attention so that you can plan your future withdrawal activities accordingly.”

Well I have been using PayPal for years now and my personal view is that we are going to be in deep soup on this decision of PayPal. Especially people who thrive by earning money online or run a online business or shopping cart will not get their money as fast as they used to withdraw earlier through electronic withdrawals. I think this is going to be a big problem for online businesses. It would be deemed to be a great favor if PayPal think-tanks can spare a second thought on this issue.

To request for a cheque withdrawal below mentioned are the steps that needs to be followed:

Step 1: Log into your PayPal account, click on ‘Withdraw’.

PayPal policy

Step 2: Click on the ‘Request a cheque from PayPal’ link. Normally it takes 4 to 6 working days to process the cheque (excluding delivery).

paypal policy

Step 3: Enter the withdrawal amount and select your mailing address, then click ‘Continue’.

PayPal policy

Please note that a monthly withdrawal limit of $2,500 USD applies.
Step 4: Click ‘Submit’ to confirm your request.

SEO Case Study – Jusnovum

The SEO department of Websys has experienced a commendable growth in the last couple of months. With over 29 successful projects in the past 8 months (both Indian and International clients) we have succeeded to put bright curves on our clients’ faces. Malini Chakravorty the admin of Jus Novum – Lawyers Junction is one such name who has praised for the SEO done for their website http://www.jusnovum.com/
Today’s post is about the SEO case study of Jusnovum, which will give an insight of our performance and illustration as a service provider of SEO services India.
The CompanyJus Novum – the Lawers’ Junction, which is a law firm in Kolkata, India offering wide range of legal services under one shade, apart from Legal Process Outsourcing (LPO) and Law coaching is located in 46/1A, Raja S.C. Mullick Road, Kolkata- 700032.

The Challenge – On the onset of the SEO project, we noticed that the site wasn’t structurally fit for effective optimization. After the critical analysis of the website structure we came up with the conclusion that the site required to be re-structured, which wasn’t 100% possible. That was probably the biggest challenge we faced while starting off with SEO for the official website of the law firm. The site was allowed to be re-structured, although to a very limited extent, which helped us, but not to the extent we desired.  Another big challenge faced was that their site had   lots of errors and incorrect HTML, which prevents the growth of any website on the major search engines – especially Google. The textual content of the website wasn’t appropriate also! To put things in simple and crispy language, no work had ever been done for the official website of Jus Novum to get good Search Engine rankings.

Plan of Action- For all local and foreign SEO clients, we start with a pre analysis, where we learn from the client – details of their company, their services and offerings and their competitors. Jus Novum’s case was no exception. We had run a pre-analysis report, showing the site’s current state, the current traffic, link popularity, how many pages of the site were indexed etc, alongside the competition analysis, keyword analysis etc. After getting the approval of our keyword suggestion for the site we started working on 6 primary keywords.

Implementation and Work flow -

  • With the onset of the work we took a backup of all the existing pages, and started making changes for the site’s structure, according to the chalked out SEO plan.
  • The content developer at Websys worked on developing entirely fresh content for the site. The most unique thing in here is that the concerned person at Jus Novum had lent us much of her precious time to help us developing the content, and explaining us the legal technicalities involved thereby. We owe a heartfelt gratitude on behalf of the Team SEO, for her stretched out helping hands.
  • On-page was done quite effectively, keeping in mind prevailing algorithmic trend. This took us quite good volume of time to complete the entire on-page task for the website.
  • The ranking couldn’t be achieved with just well optimized content and putting effective meta attributes. The strategic plan formulated for the site’s SEO at our internal meeting was found highly effective, while on the move.
  • A round of manual link building helped us also gain relevance. Believe me… not much submissions were required. Just a set of strategic link generation plan is the secret of our success story!

Results -

It is our pleasure to say that our client http://www.jusnovum.com currently ranks at

  1. legal outsourcing Kolkata  #2 and #3
  2. legal process outsourcing Kolkata #1 and #2
  3. legal services and solutions in India #1
  4. commercial lawyers in Kolkata #1 and #2
  5. consumer dispute lawyer Kolkata #7
  6. law coaching centers in Kolkata #7
  7. professional law firms in Kolkata #4 and #5

Google Launches Image Search Ads

google image search adsAt a search event held on 20-07-2010 at San Francisco, Google launched a new product called Google Image Search Ads as a part of Google Images. Basically, this would allow anyone or everyone to advertise alongside Google Image searches in a more widely and visually.

According to the director of search products Ben Ling,“This allows you to reach hundreds of million of users who are searching on Google on a daily basis.” And Google Images is actually doing over a billion page views a day, as said by Google.

The ads will appear along the top of image search which would contain both image and text. These won’t interfere with organic search results at all, Google says. They will be clearly marked as sponsored links, with a different color background, Google’s VP of search product and user experience Marissa Mayer  says.

Mayer also added that there have always been ads along Google Images, but this is taking it to the next level with the thumbnails. And actually, certain select retailers have been able to use thumbnails with the help of Google before, but now with the launch of this product anyone can use these new image ads.

For the time being, these ads will only appear on the page for Google Image search, but Ling said they’ll explore rolling the ads out to other Search products eventually. According to Google this new image search will begin rolling out to users (about 10% have it right now). The roll-out will continue throughout this week. This product will work in “modern browsers” — which is Google’s cute way of saying “all browsers by IE 6.”

The launch of Google Image Search Ads is the biggest change since it launched in 2001 which comes alongside with a largest revamp of Google Images. Now users would have a sky limit scrolling and much bigger thumbnails than before.

We, as a provider of SEO services India, wonder if this revolution in Google Image Search feature would positively affect SEO! Well, not directly, but what about traffic generation rate? Stay tuned…

Will Google be Soaring Over Facebook ?

There is a buzz going around that Google may launch a Facebook clone called “Google Me”. The huge rumor is spread after Digg CEO Kevin Rose tweeted a few weeks ago about developing a social network by Google. Even Adam D’Angelo, founder of Q&A service Quora, claimed the news to be a real project and Google CEO Eric Schmidt hasn’t denied these reports yet. To add some more spice into it, it is heard from a source that Google is now conducting focus groups to gather information about consumers’ social habits.

According to a source, Google is asking people to conduct a small survey to verify their eligibility for a “usability study” with Google and such tipster’s study is to take place shortly at the Google’s Office in Dublin, Ireland. The duration of such study would be 60 minutes and the participants receiving 60 Euros. The questionnaires focus around and relate both offline and online life of social networking. The line of questioning also seems to reflect Google’s social strategy and analysis that was unveiled in a recent presentation by Paul Adams, lead user-experience researcher of Google.

It’s not new for Google to conduct such type of surveys before launching current or future products and so its not surprising for me. Even there’s no doubt that Google is seriously thinking about social networking. But it makes me think that, why the hell would Google try to launch a new social network when they already have Orkut? They could easily re-modify and upgrade it according to the users’ choices. What do you guys think? Though such survey does not confirm the launching of “Google Me” we all have to wait and watch what exactly the search engine giants has to offers us. We, being a provider of SEO services India, are keeping our finger crossed to see what Google Me brings in for our clients!

We will expect your comments in this regard

Web Designing tid bits

With the dot com world booming high, the global business has made a drastic twist in the mode of operation. Businesses have gone online, thereby generating revenue by selling services and products to the online traffic that comes to the business websites. Hence the competition is fierce, and if you are a business you need to establish your online presence, by creating a user friendly business website in order to generate revenue by the way of generating voluminous traffic! Lot of time must be spent, lots of thoughts are to be spared over, and good deal of planning must be made before you jump in to design your business website.

Here are some tips on what all to be kept in the forefront of your mind while making your business website.
Useful graphics and stock images on your web pages make them a lot more attractive than boring textual pages. But do remember the fact they put extra strain on your pages and pushes up the loading time. Adding to many graphics and images is not a healthy either.

Some regularly followed strategies are…

1. Choose thematic colors – don’t use too many colors unless the theme really demands it.
2. Optimize images for the web – try using JPEGs
3. Gifs have always come with the “Interlace” feature. Interlaced images cause less flickering than non-interlaced ones.
5. Slicing animated Gifs makes it faster to load. Slice your animated Gifs.
6. If the page is a gallery of sorts, try using thumbnails. Large images are best if used on headers etc.
7. Scaling solid colors, without using gradients would be beneficial
8. Specify dimension – height and width.

Major search engines – especially Google tend to stress more on the loading time of your website. Lesser the loading time, better your Google ranking tends to be. At Websys, we are passionate about web design and are pride ourselves of being admired as a renowned firm doing web development in India. Give us a shout when you need to design your website and subscribe to our RSS Feed here for more tips and case studies.

bing seo

How much do we talk about Bing SEO i.e. search engine optimization for the Bing ? Bing , as we know it is the refurbished , remodeled, re-everything from Microsoft on the Search horizon. For years Microsoft has tried to get back on the search engine game, especially since Google has started taking over the internet . Not succeeding with the decadent MSN search , the hyped Live.com , Microsoft never loosed hope. They kept coming back, and since the last year and their acquisition of Yahoo , they finally seems to be on the verge of gaining ground.

Bing as a search engine, as expressed by many experts has been in it’s experimental stage for some time. With the name of a decision engine and not just a search engine, Bing has continued to cover grounds, acquire information from the Yahoo engine and slowly but steadily started impressing people. While it is still has not crossed it’s infancy , fully, many experts still believe Bing might create quite a murmur in the coming days. Lately , Bing (aka Microsoft) , has started showing dedicated results for entertainment , music, online games and game cheats etc, which is similar to what Google started by showing company stock quotes, movie timings etc. From what i read , Bing i not just showing results they are even hosting many online games, and music and tv shows from their partner network sites to increase and show valid results for user searches – thus trying to bring in more user satisfaction and loyalty .

Not a long time ago , Bing made their unique style by displaying unique stock imagery behind the search box . This particular idea ha been quite a user favourite , evident from the fact that even Google now allows people to use a background image . All these facts are just example of how more popular Bing is becoming . As it keeps on becoming more popular and at the same time relevant, more and more traffic could be expected from Bing.

Hence it is a good time now to start thinking of Bing SEO and optimizing your website for Bing search engine.
