In December 2011, YouTube unveiled their latest design and navigational changes to the world. If you want to stay on top of your video marketing in 2012, these are the only three changes that you need to focus on.

YouTube Home Page

YouTube has changed their design to follow a much more modern look. Instead of showcasing the most popular and trending videos on the website, YouTube has now positioned a “Subscription Feed” smack-dab in the middle of the page. You must be logged in to see this properly. This “Subscription Feed”, now features the latest video content and updates from your subscribers. In an effort to provide a better, more relevant user experience for viewers, YouTube is behaving more like a social-networking site than ever before. As your viewers watch, rate and comment on your latest video, exposure for your content will spread to the followers and subscribers of each of your viewers through YouTube’s feed, creating a smaller yet more relevant viral effect.

YouTube Channel Page

The new channel layout may look different, but it still behaves relatively the same. However, as YouTube moves in the direction of becoming more “channel-centric,” it is imperative that you activate, update and optimize your new channel as quickly as possible for the best results. YouTube is already making more of an effort to feature channels on search results pages for related keywords. Focus on using your main keyword phrase properly in your channel, and you can get found even quicker!

YouTube Analytics

The best change in YouTube’s most recent overhaul has been their introduction of YouTube Analytics. It was previously known as YouTube Insight, this extremely detailed and informative feature allows you to learn more about your audience, your videos and your activity on YouTube. Each statistic shows your audience visibility. With proper deduction skills, you can effectively identify problems with your videos and make the necessary changes to improve your results.

Amazon recently has stirred controversy with its new app, Price Check. The app allows consumers to scan bar codes in local stores and compare prices directly to items sold at Amazon with the benefit of purchasing it immediately. Few days back Amazon gave users discounts of up to 5% when using the app on some items. Many have argued that the app gives the online giant an unfair advantage over its smaller competitors. Brick and mortars were and continue to be furious, but Amazon maintains it actually helps small businesses.

Retail trade groups denounced the offer, saying it unfairly encouraged shoppers to check products at stores and then buy them online. Sen. Olympia Snowe, R-Maine, entered the fray, calling the promotion “anti-competitive” and “an attack on Main Street businesses that employ workers in our communities.” Amazon defended the device as pro-consumer and not anti-small business. Snowe urged Amazon to stop the promotion being offered last week. “Small businesses are fighting every day to compete with giant retailers, such as Amazon, and incentivizing consumers to spy on local shops is a bridge too far,” she said in a statement.

A spokesman for the Alliance for Main Street Fairness said “no retailer can compete” with Amazon because as an online retailer, the company is not required to collect sales taxes in many states. The Retail Industry Leaders Association, which represents many big-box retail chains, said the app unfairly encourages shoppers to use bricks-and-mortar shops as “showrooms” to check out a product before buying online.

In its defense, Amazon said that the app is mostly intended for shoppers who want to compare prices at major retail chains. The app also features prices from third-party sellers including more than 2 million businesses of all sizes that sell through its website. “The goal of the Price Check app is to make it as easy as possible for customers to access product information, pricing information and customer reviews, just as they would on the Web,” the company said in a statement.

Last but not least, according to Forbes contributor, Tim Worstall, the promotion of the app – which gives customers $5 off purchases made through the Price Check app up to $15, is a clever strategy for gathering price data. The cost of collecting this information has now been loaded onto the shoulders of Amazon’s customers instead of Amazon’s employees. And this is one of the great games of the modern era.

The House Judiciary Committee met to debate changes to the Stop Online Piracy Act (SOPA) on Thursday. Both sides have been slinging mud at each other since the bill was first introduced in the House this October.

If the bill at issue, SOPA, were to become law, it would create a “blacklist” of websites that infringe on copyrights. Private companies who allege that a site is unlawfully publishing their copyrighted content could, with a judge’s signature, demand that ad networks and companies such as PayPal and Visa stop doing business with such sites. Internet service providers would need to prevent Americans from visiting them.

On one side of the debate are entities that rely heavily on copyright such as Disney, the Motion Picture Assoication of America and (MPAA) the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA). They argue that SOPA prevents piracy and revenue they’re entitled to. On the other are giant Internet companies such as Twitter, Google, Yahoo, Facebook and eBay as well as Internet freedom organizations, who argue the law threatens to destroy the Internet as we know it.

A group of 83 prominent Internet engineers kicked things off on Thursday with a scathing open letter to Congress stating their opposition to both SOPA and its sister Senate bill PIPA stating “If enacted, either of these bills will create an environment of tremendous fear and uncertainty for technological innovation, and seriously harm the credibility of the United States in its role as a steward of key Internet infrastructure.”

Lot of actions is seen so far protesting against such proposed law. Wikipedia founder Jimmy Wales floated the idea of shutting down the site for American visitors in protest of the proposed laws. Twitter and Square co-founder Jack Dorsey, Arianna Huffington and Marc Andreessen signed by the likes to an open letter protesting against SOPA. Google co-founder Sergey Brin, followed it up with a Google+ post that compares SOPA to censorship in China, Iran and pre-revolution Libya and Tunisia.

What do you think about SOPA? Do you support the proposed law or not? Let me know your thoughts here.

Here’s the festival of light again, and the city has gone gaga over splashes of colors of lamps all around. Websys team, wishes a very happy and safe Diwali to all of you. May God bless you with togetherness and love. Let the grains of happiness be showered unto you and all.

Here’s a set safety tips from Websys that can help you make a difference in your way of enjoyment this Diwali:

·	Buy legal fireworks.
·	Supervise children while they light fireworks.
·	Light fireworks in a safe place away from houses.
·	Hold the sparklers away from the body. Never make circles in the air.
·	Do not lean down over the fireworks while lighting them.
·	If you have question whether it is burnt or not, just ignore it; don’t go near it.
·	Do not light fire crackers holding in hand.
·	Shooters and Rockets should not be lighted during heavy winds and amidst busy mobs.
·	Do not keep extra fireworks in pockets.
·	Keep fireworks stock far away from your playing spot.
·	Always wear cotton clothes while bursting crackers.
·	Keep a water bucket always near you.
·	Do not throw crackers at your friends and stray animals around. Your joke may take away ones life.
·	Be Prepared for Emergency. Keep all emergency numbers – especially fire station and police with yourself.

At the end let us again wish you a very happy and safe Diwali. Enjoy!

Thank you

Steve Jobs, co-founder of Apple Inc., passed away on October 5, 2011. The man who brought us iPad, iPhone, iPod, the man who changed the way we think of the digital world, the man who changed the concept of mobile phone and tablet, the man who revolutionized the technology industry forever has passed away.

We at Websys, being a premier web development company in India, mourn the loss of Steve Jobs, a true entrepreneur. What he did for Apple, for technology and even for the whole world will be remembered forever.

Not only he was the leading genius in the technology industry but also he was a pioneer in business and product design. Looking back, we cannot but admire so many great achievements by Steve Jobs. Being a great innovator, entrepreneur and visionary his work has greatly improved the lives of people from all stations of life, in all countries and all professions.

The co-founder and, until last August, CEO of Apple Inc was the most celebrated person in technology and business on the planet. No one will take issue with the official Apple statement that “The world is immeasurably better because of Steve.”

Steven Paul Jobs, the visionary who did not graduate college and went on to create one of the most popular and recognizable brands in the world, led an extraordinary life. Starting with the very beginnings of his career, Jobs pioneered the invention of the idea of the personal computer. More recently, he launched products as the CEO of Apple like the iPod, the iPhone and the iPad, which have undoubtedly changed the world in a substantial way.

Jobs started out with modest beginnings. A Washington Post article stated that Jobs started when he was only 21 years old, rocketing his company, Apple, to multimillion-dollar status in five years, just to be forced out. After he left Apple, he started another firm, Next, which was used to create the World Wide Web. Jobs did ultimately return to Apple in his 40s, making a new image for the company that everyone has grown to love. His career was definitely a success.

1999 – iMAC 5 Flavors came in 5 dazzling new colors: Blueberry, Strawberry, Lime, Tangerine and Grape.

Shoppers Gallery is a shopping cart website targeted for visitors in kolkata for online shopping. The client came directly to us and wanted to develop this shopping cart website. We have had good experience in past as well in developing PayPal based shopping carts. Shopping Gallery although not a vast portal but deals with the niche shopping products in Kolkata. We had few discussions with the client in the primary level to understand his preferences about the website development. Some of his favourite websites included sites like rgcards.com, homeshop18.com to start with.

Shoppers Gallery website currently intends to concentrate on selling home appliances and jewelries. The site currently features options like categories of products, product detail page and PayPal basic website integration. There also exists a recurring option for PayPal subscription. The website owner also gets the option to create and update product categories, upload his products from a fully featured backend admin panel. From our past expertise with custom shopping carts and open source shopping carts like Magento , osCommerce and Prestashop we also have built a Orders section in the backend which allows the Site admin to view his customers, items sold and update the shipping status for each order.
While the site is not yet complete, and would require some more months to become ready for online selling with a wider range of products and some more product enhancement, the site is currently opened as a Beta stage . We look forward to all critical feedback and suggestions .
