Boi Bangla is a dynamic website run by a group of enthusiastic book lovers based in Kolkata and Hyderabad. The aim is to reach out to the book loving Bengalis scattered all over India. Boibangla’s website has been custom made for a comforting customer experience.

Websys has completed the web designing and web development project for Boi Bangla. It was a great experience to work for Boi Bangla. It’s an online book selling platform. Users can purchase their best books by searching through categories. User can search by author or publisher to look for the right one. In the left panel there is also a category where book by subject can be searched. An artist panel has also been integrated where the writers can upload and review any book after full registration. Normal users can review and buy books. Users can purchase book through CC Avenue payment gateway which has been integrated within the website.

We are thankful to Boi Bangla for the time and support. They were at our doorstep whenever we needed them for resources to make the look and feel of the website better than the best.

Shoppers Gallery is a shopping cart website targeted for visitors in kolkata for online shopping. The client came directly to us and wanted to develop this shopping cart website. We have had good experience in past as well in developing PayPal based shopping carts. Shopping Gallery although not a vast portal but deals with the niche shopping products in Kolkata. We had few discussions with the client in the primary level to understand his preferences about the website development. Some of his favourite websites included sites like rgcards.com, homeshop18.com to start with.

Shoppers Gallery website currently intends to concentrate on selling home appliances and jewelries. The site currently features options like categories of products, product detail page and PayPal basic website integration. There also exists a recurring option for PayPal subscription. The website owner also gets the option to create and update product categories, upload his products from a fully featured backend admin panel. From our past expertise with custom shopping carts and open source shopping carts like Magento , osCommerce and Prestashop we also have built a Orders section in the backend which allows the Site admin to view his customers, items sold and update the shipping status for each order.
While the site is not yet complete, and would require some more months to become ready for online selling with a wider range of products and some more product enhancement, the site is currently opened as a Beta stage . We look forward to all critical feedback and suggestions .

Mant is a government registered NGO, working towards the immense suffering of the marginalized section of the society. Generally, to reach out to the donors and volunteers, the organization takes help of website. The organization already had its own website. They wanted us to re-design the website and to do the website maintenance work for them.

According to their needs, we re-designed the website and developed it using CMS (content management system). Since they already had a website the text matter was re-used. But then they were lacking on activities and on image galleries part, so they wanted us to focus on it which took a bit time to get all the data since as a NGO they had to collect the data from their different branches. We are really grateful to the coordinator who was very helpful. At regular intervals they gave time to our designers so that the work could be progressed successfully.

The main intention of the organization to re-design the website is to bring a modern look and feel from the old one. So to add some more to it, we added social networking icons anchored with respective id’s has been incorporated on the website. Since social networking plays an important role on website promotion, it’s just an added feature that helps the organization promote their website and their work for the society.

Real estate is back on the move. We all want a good house to live in. With the demand there are many real estate companies coming up with distinct projects. Few days back a promising real estate marketing firm contacted us via our website for aiding in their marketing plan.

Perfect Address primarily is a realty marketing company based in Kolkata. The company provides assistance to clients for buying, selling, rent properties in and around Kolkata. We started our work after we shared a brief idea with them. Since we have successfully designed and developed more than one real estate websites before, the initial discussion was easy. The design and the color preference of the website was their idea. They had their own logos. And this time they also had a very detailed idea on how they wanted their project pages and inquiry pages to be setup.

We do hope they are able to generate good amount of leads and visitors from their website . As a reader of our blog , we would be extremely grateful if you can put down a few comments as feedback on the website .

One of our latest client’s for website design in Kolkata includes Wall Depot Retail (India) Pvt. Ltd. Wall Depot Retail is not only in the retail fashion business but also launching a chain of shopping malls across the India.

On the onset of web development work for the Kolkata , India based company , we knew that we were dealing with a very professional group of people. They had a clear understanding of their website requirements . The deliverables and expectations were well defined , and they gave us well prepared materials for their website. When our web designers created the initial design layout, they liked it right away also. Building up on a custom CMS and a database driven Store Finder took place in the next 7 days .

With the website completed such quickly, we are now almost ready to begin for their website promotion and another new website for the Wall Depot group of companies. It would be our great pleasure if you can take a look at their new website and leave any feedback on the same.

Web design in Kolkata - Why you should get a website and How Websys can help you. Continue reading →

How is the Kolkata Web Design market ? I have to often discuss with our business development team. Are people looking at getting websites designed by local web design companies more ? Do customers really still get confused by as to what a website can do for them and their business ? Will it help the failing business during recession times, can a professional web development team offer solutions to generate newer leads and generate sales ?

The first and foremost point here is that website is a form of Advertisement. Business’ which are controlled and operated by forward thinkers , people who have interest in leading among other business and have interest in business growth will consider such Advertisement a worthwhile expenditure.

Almost all forms of advertisements bear costs – be it in the print media such as Newspapers and Magazines . In a metropolitan city like Kolkata, cost of such an advertisement is often quite high. Comparatively, total cost of having a 10-15 page website would be lower.

And in actuality, we have been seeing more and more small to medium size business, shop owners and professionals have been finding the exposure that has been received by their competitors, who already have websites are tremendous. Some of our clients include punjabi shops, budget hotels, imported tiles distributors. In all these cases, we did not have to explain the need for a website, rather the client came with their own vision as to why they wanted a website and what they expected from it.

Not to mention, that in my last count I found almost over 300 web design companies in Kolkata and numerous freelancer web designers. With such a high provider count , the market for web design and development surely is booming. It is only upto you , the visitor – to stop thinking and start contacting a professional web development company like WEBSYS.

Websys

When a UK based or US based company ( and similar) attempts to form a partnership with an India based web development company or decides to outsource specific works – often one starts thinking whether the language difference will cause …

When a UK based or US based company ( and similar) attempts to form a partnership with an India based web development company or decides to outsource specific works – often one starts thinking whether the language difference will cause a problem. India as a country has 29 states and over 17 dialects – mostly similar to Hindi or Sanskrit . The workforce consists of locales for whom English is not the First Language.
If this was a outsourcing of call center jobs or transcription work , language would probably have a major role – as both requires clear understanding of the accents, practice of speaking colloquial terms fluently and the same.
So what else could cause a problem over language ?
Emails – written communication – the sales / marketing people who receive client feedback or RFQ’s ( Request for Quote ) – should be able to clearly understand written instructions and reply with clarity and also follow basic etiquettes. What might seem trivial while writing to a friend may just work wonders to the recipient , who could be used to a friendly tone , instead of the crisp point wise replies marked with deep red .
Phone Calls – While working with a outsourcing partner, providing a phone number for emergencies may seem to be a good idea . However if this phone number happens to be attended by a non English speaking person, it will serve nothing but a source of irritation. So at the cost of being pestered ( doesn’t happen in a good working relation), one can think of giving the mobile number of a representative who can speak with clarity and patience – even if the resolution is not attained on the call in itself.
Web Page Copy – While doing website design work or web development , it is not common to also do Copy-writing, but it can be also a work which is part of the project . Now a web page copy could be something that requires a native tongue , a personal touch – which is difficult to give – unless you are in close contact with the outsourcing supplier , or unless you are acquainted with the locality and its terminology. It is very necessary that you understand what you are writing Copy for , the targeted demographics and the ideology of the business . A keen look at the basic grammar and a supervision of any finalized copy warrants a better response and results . Does it cost more – Yes , it costs more than the typical copywriting you get at 0.05p – does it make sense – Yes , it makes sense .

When you choose your new outsourcing vendor , you better make sure your outsourced partner is aware and is ready to take care of these points and probably more – and Language will not be a TRUE BARRIER .

It is 21st century – internet, web portals , blogs, forums are the resource points of today. With broadband and Google – one would surely think books are obsolete as a media for learning. Personally, I often don’t get the time to read the daily newspaper – it’s always so rush rush … what with deadlines, meetings, traveling and voice chat.

A few years back even there used to be dedicated portals for different topics and subjects providing detailed tutorials expressing step by step instructions for numerous techniques and problems . I have learnt photoshop from reading many a tutorial from Pixel2life , Spoonno many a time. In the current day, blogs have replaced most of such sites … people still provide tutorials but now through blogs, with not just the steps or instructions but also expressing there viewpoints and comparing it with related ones. Forums also help in the learning process , even though in a scattered way and often by just posting snippets of code or via to and fro by several members / readers.

So are books still a viable source for knowledge – primarily in the case of web development topics ? Why should they be still be considered as an alternative ? Is it worthwhile to spend around 30-100 USD on a hard bound book when simmilar knowledge can be obtained for free just by using 2-3 hours on the internet ?

For one thing , books are printed material which can be carried anywhere and does not require an internet connectivity or the PC where you might have downloaded the tutorial . Since it is a physical item , you do not have to worry about the blog / website from being inaccessible / down . Books are something that you own and you don’t have to search for it everytime you are in need of the reference. ( It has often been my experience , quite frustratingly , that the blog / site i was reading is inaccessible , <strike>even though i agree really large sites has less downtime</strike> ). Books are also very planned and compact , which is hardly the case for forums topics / comments and somewhat also possible in blogs . Even though good blogs are often nicely categorised and cataloged , they do not compare with the structure and systematic disbursement of the topic in the case of a hard bound book. You may often find a random good article on one topic in a blog , but you are more likely to find constantly coherent advice if the book is by a good author . Books also lack the problem of missing images , and extremely disturbing adverts all over the place ( as always accompanies by any popular website / blog ). A blog or forum can also be plagued by various distracting and often irritating comments by spammers of less qualified webmasters. And finally and quite importantly , a book requires much more attention and interest to read through where as seeing a blog , a developer might be tempted to simply grab and copy paste the required code and use it in his project and not actually learn anything worthwhile from author; whereas in the case of a book, even if someone tries the same , he would have to type it out and in the process might even learn something

Saying all this , i am not trying to say that books are better than blogs or forums or anything of that sort , but i do believe that books do still provide lots of value to a person who is still in the process of learning – especially web development and designing. In the past 2 years , i have bought multiple web development books from Sitepoint.com , Packtpub.com and Amazon.com and we have bee creating our own collection of books , which is available for all our designers here at Websys.
